Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you teach beginners?

Of course. The majority of my pupils either are beginners or played when they were a lot younger and want to pick it up again. I specialise in teaching beginner students of all ages, including adults.

Are you lesson times flexible?

Yes, my lesson times can be very flexible. If you are not able to have a weekly designated slot for your lesson, I am willing to work around your schedule to find something that works for us both. I am currently at university so I fit lessons around my studying also.

Where are you located?

I teach all my piano lessons in Leicester from my home teaching space, located on Duncan Road, LE2 8EJ in Aylestone, Leicester. Do we need a piano to learn?

A keyboard will be fine to practice on to begin with. Later on, if you decide to take grades, it may be a good idea to get some practice on a piano to develop your technique and also, to practice for examinations.

Do I have to take grades?

No, you don't have to take grades. It is completely up to you whether you want to take them or not. I am happy to teach people who would like to play for leisure and pupils that want to progress through the examinations. If students want to do classical grades, they will be entered under the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) exams which you can find more information about at www.abrsm.org.

Classical and Modern

Each of my piano lessons is tailored to the needs of student, building a personalised program that helps students to learn with speed and confidence. I specialise in helping beginner students to learn to play the piano, so you are most welcome to come for lessons without any previous experience.

I also offer ABRSM theory and piano grades, should students be interested in taking them - though many of my students simply learn for fun!
